Everything a great media wall needs
Every media wall is bespoke, but these are the parts we plan with you.
Made-to-measure frame
A timber or metal stud frame built to your room, boarded and finished smooth — strong enough for a large TV.
Your choice of finish
Painted plaster, acoustic slats, fluted panels or stone effect — or a mix of them.
Electric fire recess
Built to the fire maker’s dimensions and ventilation requirements, with the electrics by a qualified electrician.
Storage & shelving
Alcove shelves, cupboards for consoles and boxes, floating shelves and display niches.
LED lighting
Warm LED strips in recesses and shelves, on a remote or dimmer, for an evening glow.
Hidden cables
Cable routes and sockets planned before the frame goes up, so wires never show.

Six things to decide before we build
We set the TV height for your sofa so you’re not looking up — usually lower than people expect.
An electric inset fire adds atmosphere and heat; it needs the right recess, ventilation and power.
Think about consoles, routers, books and display — closed cupboards keep it tidy.
A soundbar recess or acoustic slats help the room sound as good as it looks.
LED strips, spotlights in shelves, or a wall-washer over stone or fluting.
Alcoves, windows and doors affect proportions — we design the wall to suit the whole room.

We tidy up, take the waste away and show you how everything works.
Is a media wall worth it?
If the TV is the focal point of the room, a media wall tidies away cables, boxes and speakers, adds storage and gives the room a finished, built-in look. Many clients also add an electric fire for atmosphere.
Do I need planning permission for a media wall?
Generally no — a media wall is an internal alteration. Listed buildings are different: internal changes can need listed building consent, so check with your local council first. Leaseholders may need the freeholder’s permission.
How long does it take to build a media wall?
Most media walls take a few days on site, depending on size, storage and finish. Painting or decorating can add time. We agree the programme with you before we start.
Can you fit an electric fire?
Yes. We build the recess to the fire manufacturer’s dimensions and ventilation requirements. Electrical work is carried out by a qualified electrician.
Can the cables be hidden?
Yes — that’s one of the main reasons for a media wall. We plan cable routes, sockets and a space for your boxes before the frame goes up.
Can you add slats, fluting or stone to the media wall?
Yes. Many of our media walls are finished with acoustic slats, fluted panels or stone-effect panels, often with LED lighting.
How much does a media wall cost?
It depends on the size, storage, fire, finish and lighting. We’ll look at the room and send a clear, itemised quote. See our cost guide for what affects the price.
